Scholarship Information

ASIS International, with more than 34,000 members, is the preeminent international organization for professionals responsible for security, including managers and directors of security. In addition, corporate executives and other management personnel, as well as consultants, architects, attorneys, and federal, state and local law enforcement, are becoming involved with ASIS to better understand the constant changes in security issues and solutions. ASIS supports security education globally at all levels.

Joseph W. Callahan, CPP, Chairman of the Western New Jersey Chapter of the American Society of Industrial Security International, is thus pleased to announce the 2010 Dominic D. Allocca, CPP, Scholarship award competition. For the eleventh consecutive year, the chapter will offer a noteworthy monetary scholarship to an undergraduate college or university student member of ASIS International who best exemplifies the promise of leadership within the safety and security profession.

The award amount for 2010 is: $2000


Criteria to Apply for The Scholarship:

  • You do not need to be a member of ASIS to apply for the scholarship. However, if selected for the scholarship, you must become a student member of the ASIS International Western New Jersey Chapter by the award date - our September Monthly Meeting. The cost to become a student member is $25.00.
  • Candidates must be current undergraduate majors in a security related field of study, taking a minimum of six (6) credits of instruction of higher learning.
  • Student member candidates must hold a current GPA of 3.0/4.0 or the equivalent.

Process for Applying for the Scholarship:

  1. Applicant must submit an essay. Click here to view the essay question and submission form. Applicants can type their response directly into the form or copy and paste from another document.
  2. Essays will be reviewed by the scholarship committee.
  3. Applicants selected to proceed past the essay submission will be contacted by the Scholarship Chairperson and sent an application package.
  4. Finalists will be interviewed by the Scholarship Committee
  5. Deadline to submit a completed application package is Friday, June 27, 2010.

The 2010 Dominic D. Allocca, CPP Scholarship for $2000 will be awarded to the successful student(s) at the Western New Jersey Chapter’s monthly meeting to be held in September.
